For years, it was one of Ugandan entertainment’s most whispered-about romances — gospel star Levixone and celebrated singer-turned-gospel artiste Desire Luzinda sharing knowing glances at concerts, posting cryptic captions on Instagram, and dodging reporters’ questions about their relationship . Whenever the inevitable question about their relationship surfaced, they deflected with practiced charm, leaving the public to knit together fragments of sightings, photos, and whispers into a love story that was never quite confirmed… until now.
The speculation reached fever pitch in 2022, when a low-key gathering in Matugga, attended by high-profile friends, set tongues wagging. At the time, the couple dismissed the chatter, claiming it was all for a music video shoot. But behind the veil of public denial, a love story was quietly taking root, one that would finally burst into the open in spectacular fashion this year.
Desire Luzinda returns to Uganda ahead of her wedding to gospel star Levixone
Yesterday, the gates of Luzinda’s family home in Matugga swung open to reveal an unforgettable scene: a grand Buganda-style Kwanjula, rich with cultural color, spiritual symbolism, and the sparkle of celebrity glamour. Friends, family, fellow artists, and well-wishers filled the compound, their chatter blending with the rhythmic drumbeats and joyful ululations. It was an introduction ceremony that could have easily doubled as a gospel music festival.
The guest of honor, Special Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, arrived with words of counsel and an envelope of generosity — more than USD 3,000 as a gift to the couple. In her speech, she urged Levixone and Luzinda to keep their marriage rooted in God’s word, to guard their peace from detractors, and to walk together in integrity.
And, in a moment that had the crowd in stitches, the traditional dowry exchange played out in good humor. Levixone had come prepared with one cow, but was lightheartedly told by the bride’s family that a woman of Desire’s worth surely deserved fifteen. With a smile, he agreed to the challenge — a gesture that earned cheers, laughter, and the approving nods of elders.
This public celebration was the culmination of a journey that had, until recently, been more about quiet devotion than grand gestures. Back in February, Levixone let slip in an interview that wedding plans were in motion, but it wasn’t until July 2025 that the couple stepped fully into the light. Standing before the congregation at Phaneroo Ministries in Kampala, they announced their wedding date — August 15, 2025 , sealing the moment with deeply personal testimonies.
“She is the Woman of God I prayed for,” Levixone told the crowd, his voice thick with emotion. “My answered prayer.” Desire’s response was equally moving: “Through him, my heart was healed, and my faith was restored.”
A Love Story of Redemption
Part of the public fascination with this union lies in its shared theme of transformation. Levixone’s rise from the tough streets of Kosovo slum to becoming one of Africa’s most celebrated gospel artists is a testament to resilience and divine calling. Desire Luzinda’s own journey, from a high-profile secular music career to a faith-led life and advocacy work, mirrors that same arc of redemption. Together, they embody a narrative that resonates with many: love not just as romance, but as a vessel for purpose, healing, and service.
More Than a Celebrity Affair
While the guest list was glittering — a who’s who of gospel and entertainment circles, the heart of the day lay in its meaning. This was more than a celebrity introduction ceremony; it was a cultural bridge between tradition and modernity, a declaration of faith in front of both God and community, and a public commitment to a shared mission that goes beyond music.
As the sun dipped over Matugga and guests lingered over their last plates of food, there was a sense that this was just the opening chapter of something much bigger. In two days’ time, Levixone and Desire will walk down the aisle and Uganda will once again pause to celebrate a union that began in whispers and has now become a beacon of joy.
