Koffi Olomide, widely regarded as Congo’s biggest artist, has been performing professionally for over 40 years. His career began in the late 1970s, with his rise to fame taking shape in the late 1980s.
He is just a decade younger than Afrigo Band, Uganda’s most experienced and celebrated music group, which is marking 50 years in the industry.
Afrigo Band will celebrate this golden milestone with a concert dubbed “Legends of Sounds” at Millennium Grounds this Saturday, and joining them for the occasion will be none other than Koffi Olomide.
The legendary soukous star arrived at Entebbe International Airport to a warm welcome from Afrigo Band leader Moses Matovu and Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group — the official promoters and producers of the show.
Koffi will share the stage with Afrigo Band in a powerful live collaboration, blending Congolese rhythms with Ugandan classics in what promises to be an unforgettable performance.
“This collaboration between Koffi Olomide and Afrigo Band will be a celebration of African music heritage like never before,” said Allibhai. “We are bringing together two musical giants to create an unforgettable night for Ugandan music lovers.”
The night will not only honour Afrigo Band’s five decades of musical excellence but will also feature top-tier stage production and electrifying performances for fans who have followed their journey since 1975.
