Uganda’s Afro-Soul star Kenneth Mugabi turned the Kampala Serena Hotel into a sanctuary of rhythm and emotion with his Tales of Mugabi concert, offering fans a night of soul, storytelling, and unforgettable live performance.
The show drew a lively crowd of Afro-Soul lovers and enthusiasts of contemporary Ugandan live music. From the opening notes, the audience swayed, sang along, and soaked in the deeply heartfelt vibe as Mugabi poured himself into every song.

Backed by I&M Bank and Fenon Events on production The evening began with renditions of the Buganda and Uganda anthems before flowing into a carefully curated set. The concert’s emotional centerpiece came when Mugabi took to the piano, performing ballads such as Fight for You, Amaso g’Otulo, Ileng, Munha, Fire and Water, Muvubuka, and People of the Land. Each piece drew the audience into a soulful and intimate journey.
Instead of a traditional emcee, media personality and poet Maritza delivered reflective interludes of poetry between Mugabi’s songs. Her verses framed the music with timeless narratives, adding depth and flow to the night. Guest artists including Eli Malik, Afrie, Halima Namakula, and instrumentalist Happy Kyazze also joined him on stage, celebrating collaboration and the richness of Uganda’s music scene.
The show’s middle stretch featured crowd favorites such as Njagala Ondabe, Birawuli, Kkiriza, Our Dream, Wandaga, and Mumbejja, heightening the soulful atmosphere.
But Mugabi saved his most electrifying moments for last. The final set featured his biggest hits, Take Me Back, Nteesa, Ebinuma, Wamanyiza, Naki, and Sanyu which sent the audience into a frenzy of singing and dancing.
When the show ended a few minutes past midnight, Mugabi bowed to a hall still buzzing with energy. The lingering music and the crowd’s reluctance to leave marked a fitting close to a night where Afro-Soul truly took center stage.
