Legendary artist Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has defended his decision to frequently change football clubs for his son, Alpha Thierry Ssali.
According to Bebe Cool, Alpha’s movement from one club to another is not by accident but part of a structured growth system.
“The reason why I had to take Alpha to Express, NEC, and KCCA is because it’s a system he had to go through. To reach where he needs to be, he must experience different situations,” Bebe Cool explained in a recent interview.
The Hidden Agenda singer added that Alpha’s stint at Express FC was intentional, to expose him to the tough realities of football culture.
“For a player to join Express, it means facing a unique challenge. Anyone who plays at the club in such circumstances and completes a season comes out with a deeper understanding of life’s struggles. If they later get a chance at a better life, they’ll never take it for granted,” he said.
Bebe Cool also described Express FC fans as among the harshest in Ugandan football.
“No matter how much good you do, the moment you slip, their criticism is unforgiving. That experience is vital,” he noted.
He further emphasized that even though he envisions his son eventually playing in Europe, he wants Alpha to first get a taste of the pressures footballers face.
“In Europe, players face constant pressure, fans attack them for playing poorly or being inconsistent. I want Alpha to experience that reality early, so he grows into a tougher, more grounded player,” Bebe Cool concluded.
