Kampala’s social calendar has no shortage of weekend parties, but The Singleton Big Meeting has quickly carved out its own lane. Held every last Sunday of the month at Thrones Bar & Lounge, the gathering has become a place where the city’s party crowd goes not just to drink and dance, but to expect the unexpected.
Unlike the routine weekend hangouts dotted across Kampala, The Big Meeting thrives on unpredictability. One month it’s a laid-back brunch, the next it’s a high-energy DJ takeover, or even a paint-and-sip session. September’s edition flipped the script once again, inviting guests to ditch the role of spectators and step behind the bar for a do-it-yourself cocktail challenge.
The DIY setup gave everyone a chance to get creative, shaking and stirring their way to signature mixes. Some went for the zesty kick of an orange-mellow rush, others leaned into the bold meet & greet, while the adventurous tried the playful gibberish—each cocktail as much a reflection of personality as it was of taste. Between clinking glasses, bursts of laughter, and plenty of selfies, the afternoon turned into a workshop-meets-party vibe that felt fresh and spontaneous.
As the sun dipped, the music took over—because no Big Meeting is complete without a heavy DJ line-up. Kamali, DJ Jerry, DJ Kasbaby, EM That Guy, DJ Nova, and Lynda Dane kept the crowd on its feet with everything from 90s R&B throwbacks to amapiano bangers. Even a light drizzle couldn’t scatter the energy; instead, it added to the electric atmosphere as cocktails and rhythms carried the night.
What sets The Big Meeting apart is that no two editions are the same, yet each one somehow manages to deliver on the promise of good vibes and smooth experiences. September’s DIY twist was proof of that, reminding Kampala’s nightlife lovers that sometimes the best way to enjoy a party is to mix it up—literally.
