During President Museveni’s nomination event at Kololo Independence Grounds, musicians Weasel (Douglas Mayanja) and Jose Chameleone (Joseph Mayanja) were present, signaling support for the ruling NRM.
A few days later, their brother Pius Mayanja, better known as Pallaso, publicly declared his backing for the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP).
Posting on social media, Pallaso said: “Immediate action is needed. Our future depends on change. I support NUP. Let’s go, Uganda—you deserve better. The time to change is now.”
He later visited NUP’s offices in Kavule, dressed in a red suit, where he met party leader Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya, and other members. Bobi Wine welcomed him, saying: “Thank you for passing by. Thank you for seeing the light and thank you for showing people that this is not all about me.”
Pallaso responded that he wanted to be remembered for standing for something important.
With this move, the Malamu singer joins a list of entertainers who have aligned themselves with NUP, including Fik Fameica, King Saha, Roden Y Kabako, Hon. Geoffrey Lutaaya, and Nina Roz.
