Renowned Ugandan music producer Abdul Karim Muchwa, popularly known as Producer Didi, is back on his feet after spending more than a year in rehabilitation.
In a video making rounds on social media, Didi expressed heartfelt gratitude to Eddy Kenzo, president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), and the entire committee for their unwavering support during his lowest moments. He revealed that their encouragement and efforts toward his mental health played a significant role in his recovery after he collapsed and lost consciousness last year.
“I’m thankful to Eddy Kenzo and everyone who stood by me when I couldn’t stand on my own,” Didi said, visibly emotional.
Last year, Didi publicly opened up about his condition and appealed for financial help. His call was answered when music manager Emma Carlos led a fundraising effort that saw the producer receive financial and medical support, eventually leading to his admission to a rehabilitation facility.
Now on the path to recovery, Didi says he is determined to rebuild his life and career, appreciating everyone who contributed to his journey back to wellness.
Didi rose to fame in the mid-2000s as one of Uganda’s top music producers, working with artists such as Coco Finger, Eddy Kenzo, Gift of Kaddo, and Sweet Kid, among others. His comeback marks a hopeful new chapter for a man whose beats once defined a generation of Ugandan hits.
