Singer Vinka has spoken out to dispel ongoing speculation that fellow artist Elijah Kitaka is currently the most favored act at Swangz Avenue, leaving other labelmates like Azawi, Zafaran, and Winnie Nwagi sidelined.
The conversation, which has been circulating among fans and entertainment circles, echoes similar claims made in previous years whenever one Swangz Avenue artist appears to dominate the spotlight.
However, while appearing on a local TV show, Vinka — known for her hit Sirubala — clarified that the label operates on a structured plan where every artist has their own roadmap set at the start of each year.
“Everyone has their time to shine. When the year starts, everyone has their own plans, and that’s how we do it. If you see any of us in a certain position, know they planned to be there,” she explained.
Vinka emphasized that Swangz Avenue’s success formula is built on planning, timing, and execution, not favoritism. She encouraged fans to appreciate and support each artist equally as they each have their own moments in the spotlight.
Over the years, Swangz Avenue has consistently rotated its focus between artistes — with Winnie Nwagi dominating the airwaves in earlier years, Azawi taking the lead thereafter, followed by Vinka’s major run two years ago. Now, Elijah Kitaka appears to be enjoying his season.
Her remarks reaffirm the label’s reputation for grooming multiple stars while maintaining a unified brand that continues to shape Uganda’s contemporary music scene.
