Songstress Nina Roz, real name Nina Kankunda, has moved to quell a growing political storm after a viral video appeared to show her endorsing a candidate outside the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Kampala lineup.
The clip, which circulated widely over the weekend, triggered criticism from NUP supporters who questioned her loyalty and commitment to party structures. As the backlash intensified, Nina Roz issued a public clarification to set the record straight.
Taking to her social platforms, she wrote:
“I’ve seen the video making rounds suggesting I endorsed another candidate outside our NUP Kampala structure. I want to make it clear I fully support our SG David Lewis Rubongoya. I stand with NUP Kampala and the values we fight for. Apologies for any confusion.”
She followed the statement with a video filmed at the NUP headquarters, the party badge visibly positioned behind her, to reinforce her message of unity.
“I would like to apologise to the people of Kampala, especially those who felt offended,” she said calmly. “But I implore you to join me in stopping the spread of negativity because I wasn’t trying to prove anything.”
Her remarks signal an effort to restore calm and reaffirm her loyalty as the Sembabule Woman MP flag bearer ahead of the 2026 elections. With the tension beginning to ease, her call for positivity appears to be resonating with supporters seeking clarity and cohesion within the party.
