Singer King Saha’s concert in Kyotera district was cancelled over the weekend, a day before it was scheduled to take place, sparking accusations of political sabotage from the artiste.
Saha, who successfully held a major show at Lugogo Cricket Oval and later a follow up show in Mukono, had planned to crown the weekend with a homecoming performance in Kyotera. The event, however, did not happen.
The artiste has since claimed that some officials blocked the concert because of his open support for National Unity Platform president and presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine.
According to the Masaka region police spokesperson, the Uganda Police Force was aware that King Saha had organized the Kyotera concert at Kasambya Play Ground for November 23, 2025. The officer said they communicated to Saha’s manager and events organizer Raymond Asiku weeks before the event.
The police explained that they informed the team three weeks earlier that they would not have enough officers available on the scheduled date. They advised the organizers that the show required a large deployment since it was being held in an open space.
The spokesperson added that the police are heavily engaged in securing people and property during the campaign season and therefore could not allocate additional manpower to the concert.
He said they advised Asiku to choose another date after the 2026 general elections when security personnel would be available.
The police spokesperson further clarified that although they initially accepted the event, they later reviewed the situation and concluded they could not provide adequate security. A communication to that effect was formally issued through the office of the Inspector General of Police.
“We have seen King Saha trying to blame our Kyotera DPC and the RDC for cancelling his concert but he knows the truth because we wrote to him,” the spokesperson said.
Saha is yet to respond to the police clarification.
