Despite the organizers not announcing the eventual winner at the first female music battle between Sheebah Karungi and Cindy Sanyu on 15th September, 2023, their fans left Kololo airstrip where the battle was held, content that their artist had won.
More than a year later, the impact of that night still lingers, and so do the questions. Cindy, the self-assured Ndi Mukodo star, is the latest to revisit the subject and her answer was as bold as her stage presence.
Asked whether she would consider another battle, Cindy didn’t hesitate. She said she has no interest in taking on any female artiste again because, in her words, the last showdown almost ended someone’s career.
“I don’t want to do a battle with anyone ever again. Especially a fellow woman,” she said during a recent interview. “I don’t want to shame a fellow female like that again. You can’t embarrass people like that twice.”
The former Blu*3 powerhouse went on to explain that a rematch would cross a line she’s not willing to cross.
“The first time, it was a battle. The second time, it would be evil and very unfair,” she said. “It would be selfish of me to embarrass the same person again. I made my point.”
With that, Cindy seems to have closed the chapter leaving fans to treasure the memory of a night that shook the industry, and one that may never be repeated.
