Singer and Mpaka Records boss Ykee Benda is counting his blessings after surviving a frightening car crash over the weekend while traveling to perform in Kyegegwa District.
The accident happened as Ykee and his team were headed to a show reportedly expected to feature President Yoweri Museveni. Their vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp corner, crashing into a roadside barricade. Ykee sustained injuries to his shoulder and left wrist, while another crew member suffered a head injury and was rushed to hospital for scans.
Speaking to Spark TV shortly after the crash, the “Superman” singer said:
“We met a sharp corner in Kyegegwa. The car didn’t brake very well and we ended up knocking a barricade. I hit my head on the dashboard, and my left hand got a slight twist. We pray we get through it. My team is okay.”
Hours later, he posted “Ekisa Kyamukama” — meaning “God’s mercy” — on X (formerly Twitter) to express gratitude for survival.
Now, Ykee Benda has issued a new update confirming he is back home in Kampala and has been reviewed by a specialist team at Mulago National Referral Hospital. In a message to his followers, he reassured fans that scans show no internal bleeding or major complications.
