This December, the heartbeat of Kigezi will pulse through the capital louder, prouder, and more festive than ever. The drums, the laughter, the aroma of freshly brewed enturire, the Christmas tales that once warmed childhood nights will all rise again in Kampala as memory and celebration merge into one unforgettable moment.
Bakiga Nation is set to unveil the much anticipated Rukundo Egumeho Nohiri Yeitu Christmas edition on Sunday, 14 December 2026 at Millennium Grounds Lugogo. It promises to be more than an event. It will be a journey back to the hills, back to childhood, back to identity. Imagine children chasing Father Christmas between craft stalls, mothers sharing hearty laughter over Kikiga delicacies, and elders gathering under a shade tree to retell the stories that shaped generations.
This year Bakiga Nation is raising the bar by recreating an authentic Kigezi Christmas right in the heart of Kampala. “This is the Christmas of our childhood… the drums, the carols, the stories. We’re bringing it home to Kampala,” the Bakiga Nation team shared during a press conference at Little Ritz restaurant.
One of the festival’s main attractions will be The Bakiga Nation Mass Choir, a powerful ensemble ready to shake the dust off your soul with soaring harmonies, rhythmic drums, and voices that carry the warmth and nostalgia of home.
The stage will shine with performances from both cultural and contemporary stars including Florence Musimenta, Lillian Nabaasa, Norman Shaaka, Lady Sarah, TPaul, and The Bakiga Nation Cultural Troupe. Sheebah Karungi will also perform on the Bakiga Nation stage for the very first time, promising a once in a lifetime cultural meets mainstream fusion. On her socials she teased, “Expect energy. Expect magic. Expect a performance Kampala will talk about for years.”
