Events promoter Nobat Events has described his time in Luzira Prison as “forced leave” after he was once again remanded until December 30, 2025.
Nobat appeared before Makindye Court, where he is facing charges of defamation and allegedly making harmful statements against several musicians, including Jose Chameleone and Eddy Kenzo. He had earlier been remanded until December 18 but was returned to Luzira following the latest court appearance.

While addressing the matter, Nobert remained vocal, especially about Eddy Kenzo. He insisted that his claims against the singer stand, alleging that Kenzo stole Shs5 billion meant for artistes. Nobert claimed he has reports and evidence to back up his accusations.
Presenting himself as a “generational promoter,” Nobat said he is fighting for artistes and the industry at large. He assured supporters that he is doing well in Luzira, adding humorously that he has even gained weight.
He also touched on politics, saying he and others are the “true National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters,” claiming they were in NRM long before Eddy Kenzo, whom he accused of switching from National Unity Platform (NUP) after singing System Volongoto and now trying to “make NRM volongoto.”
Nobat asked that his message be delivered to Gen Salim Saleh and Gen Nalweyiso. Referring to Eddy Kenzo as “the president for upcoming artistes” and mentioning his girlfriend Phiona Nyamutoro recently appointed as a minister, Nobat said Kenzo should remember he is not the first powerful man in Uganda.
“There were men before you who moved in convoys of 20 cars,” he said. “What about you who moves with one car?”
He concluded by insisting he is unbothered by the remand, maintaining that he is simply on “forced leave” and doing just fine behind bars.
