Ever wondered what your favourite people do away from the socials, who they would swap lives with for a day, or which song they secretly dance to in the shower? In this section, Gloria Haguma gets personal and a little nosy with artiste Gloria Bugie. No filter, no script, just a peek into his quirky side.
Without googling, who is the Vice President of Uganda, Bugie?
Hahaha… Jessica Alupo.
You come off super dramatic in the media, but how dramatic are you really in person? I am a very straightforward person. I do not take bullshit, but I also joke a lot. Sometimes life is not that serious. I am a happy person.
What is that one story about you that you enjoyed watching people argue about online?
Whether I did a BBL or not. Everybody knows I am nyash mummy. I am naturally blessed. I am just 20, my body is still growing, so sometimes I can be thick or thicker. My body keeps evolving. A Pass, on this same page, said you are one of the artistes he would make disappear if he had powers.
What is your next move now that the gatekeepers chased you out of music?
I am not surprised. Every artiste, old or new, is intimidated by my extraordinary vocals and resilience. They cannot deal with how I am moving past them faster. But I respect and love him as a legend. Matter of fact, he gave me a collaboration, Sagala – Gloria Bugie ft A Pass, because he knows how good I am.
Have you ever worn something knowing it would start conversations online?
No, never. I always do me, whatever makes me happy and comfortable, and I just find it trending for some reason. As long as I am not breaking any laws, I will always wear whatever makes me feel comfortable that day, according to the occasion and my moods. God’s grace upon me causes me to trend and be loved effortlessly. I never sit down and plan things for people to talk about.
What is the most “problematic” thing about you that you are no longer apologising for?
My dress code! We know you live for attention.
What is the craziest thing you have done to be seen?
Nothing, actually. You got it all wrong. Question number five answers you perfectly.
Has your body ever opened doors that talent had not knocked on yet?
Yeah. Brand influencing and endorsements, like clothing brands. Because I am naturally a good-looking goddess. God has blessed me with everything, and I am grateful. If you could clear one rumour with the truth, or make it worse, which would you choose?
I do not mind people having controversies about me. I do not clear up any sh*t. Whatever you heard is true, move on with that. I will never come out to clear anything unless it is a court matter. That is the only time I will defend myself. Sorry, not sorry.
You have a chance at a BET Award, but first you must create a scandal. How are you embarrassing yourself?
I cannot humiliate myself on purpose. Maybe if I tried being a comedian. Let’s be straight. There are rumours about you getting a BBL. If a fan randomly grabbed your butt to check if it is real, are you calling Winnie Nwagi or handling things yourself? That is not happening because I always have security around me. Nobody gets to touch me unless I allow them to.
If you could do voice enhancement surgery, whose voice would you want?
Mine, still. It is unique in its own way. There is a reason God blessed me with it. It is taking me places; it is feeding my family. I am grateful for this very one because no Ugandan artiste can even try to imitate it. It is peculiar, dear.
Your nyash is very giving. Does it ever get stuck in those white plastic chairs? ?
No, it does not. It is petite now because I have been trying to cut some weight. It was making my back hurt because it is very heavy.
Do you think your body is the temple of the Lord, Gloria Bugie?
I think my heart is the temple. My body? Huh! It is wild. It is a sinner.
