Events promoter Nobat Twezire, popularly known as Nobat Events, has regained his freedom after being released on bail earlier today.

Nobat appeared before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, which granted him bail as his case continues.

The promoter is facing a wave of defamation complaints from some of Uganda’s biggest music stars. In total, he is battling 12 separate complaints, the majority filed by high-profile figures in the entertainment industry.

Musician Eddy Kenzo has lodged eight complaints against him, while Jose Chameleone has filed three. Singer Mariam Tindatine also filed one complaint.

Nobat was initially detained at Nateete Police Station after voluntarily presenting himself to authorities. He had earlier requested more time to respond to police summons, citing commitments related to NRM campaign activities. However, upon appearing to record his statement, police officers placed him into custody.

The case remains ongoing.
