Eddy Kenzo has finally spoken out following accusations by MC Kats that the Federation failed to financially support singer Fille Mutoni during her rehabilitation.
The controversy exploded after MC Kats, Took to social media to accuse UNMF of dishonesty, claiming the Federation promised financial assistance that was never delivered.
In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Kats shared a photo of a bedridden Fille, sparking public concern and debate. While he did not clarify whether the image was recent or old, his message was clear.
According to Kats, UNMF had allegedly pledged Shs10 million to him and Shs15 million to Fille to help with her recovery, funds he insists were never paid.
Kenzo, however, has strongly denied the claims, saying neither he nor the Federation ever made public promises of such amounts.
“This is my first time hearing about that,” Kenzo said. “What I know is that Fille came to us when she was unwell, and we rehabilitated her at the Federation for some time. Later, we took her to a proper rehab facility and supported her until she got better.”
Kenzo explained that once Fille recovered, UNMF went a step further by organizing a welcome-back party for her after which she relocated to Rwanda. That move, he said, marked the end of the Federation’s direct involvement in her personal affairs.
“At that point, she was out of our hands,” Kenzo noted. “She had become independent to run her own life like any other person.”
The Big Talent boss also used the moment to clarify the broader mission and limitations of the Uganda National Musicians Federation. While UNMF is committed to uplifting artists, Kenzo stressed that it cannot shoulder every crisis faced by musicians across the country.
“The Federation cannot finish all the problems; we can only assist,” he said. “We have thousands of people from border to border. It’s unfortunate for anyone to think the Federation can take on full responsibility for every situation until the very end. The need is big, and those who need help are many.”
