Musician Sheebah Karungi has skipped voting in Uganda’s ongoing electoral process after travelling to Qatar for a performance.

Sheebah, who is set to perform for Ugandan fans in Qatar, arrived in the Middle Eastern country on Tuesday accompanied by her son and members of her team.

Expressing her excitement upon arrival, the self-styled Queen Karma said the show marks her first ever performance in Qatar.

“I’ve never been here, and I’m super excited to have my first show in Qatar. I can’t wait to see what the Qatar audience is like, and I’m excited to show them what I’m about. I’m so happy to be here,” Sheebah said.

The singer noted that the concert is especially significant as it gives her an opportunity to connect with Ugandans living in the diaspora, many of whom have supported her music over the years.

Sheebah’s decision to travel for the show means she will not participate in voting back home, a move that has sparked discussion among fans online. However, she has not publicly commented on her absence from the polls, choosing instead to focus on the upcoming performance.

The Qatar show adds to Sheebah’s growing list of international performances as she continues to expand her brand beyond Uganda.
