In an industry long dominated by Uganda’s “big three” Bebe Cool, Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine, it is rare for anyone outside that elite circle to be publicly credited for shaping the trajectory of modern Ugandan music.
But according to dancehall artist Daxx Kartel, producer and creative Tip Swizzy is one of those rare figures whose impact deserves recognition especially when it comes to the rise of the celebrated trio, B2C.
Speaking in a recent interview, the Bala singer did not mince his words. To him, Tip Swizzy is not just another industry player; he is the foundation upon which B2C was built.
“I’m being real,” Daxx said. “If it wasn’t for Tip Swizzy, we wouldn’t know B2C. Everyone in Makindye can testify to that.”
Daxx recounted how Tip Swizzy introduced him to the group at a time when they were still unknown and struggling to find direction. He vividly remembers Swizzy’s belief in the trio, particularly Bobby Lash, whom he described as resourceful and hungry enough to do whatever it took to push their dream forward.
“He told me, ‘This is Bobby Lash. He can even bring clothes from Owino for video shoots,’” Daxx recalled. “He was already singing, he had songs, and he had friends, talented ones but they were too proud.”
According to Daxx Kartel, Tip Swizzy didn’t just see potential in B2C; he had a vision. He believed the trio could follow in the footsteps of Big Tyme, one of Uganda’s most iconic music groups of the early 2000s.
Tip Swizzy went beyond that as he also collaborated with B2C on the song titled Nweza.
