Ugandan music star Eddy Kenzo will not attend the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, despite earning a nomination at this year’s prestigious ceremony.
The Grammy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, and will celebrate outstanding musical achievements released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
Kenzo secured a nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for his song Hope and Love, a collaboration with Swedish artist Mehran Martin.
The category is highly competitive and features some of Africa’s biggest stars, including Burna Boy with Love, Davido and Omah Lay with With You, Ayra Starr and Wizkid with Gimme Dat, and Tyla with Push 2 Start.
However, the award-winning singer has confirmed that he will not be present at the ceremony due to personal commitments.
“We thank God that I was nominated for the Grammys, but I have a lot I am handling at the moment which will not permit me to attend the ceremony,” Kenzo said.
He explained that the matters requiring his attention are urgent, although he remains optimistic that everything will be resolved positively.
Despite his absence, Kenzo reassured fans that he will still be fully represented on Grammy night. “I have management all over, so I am well represented,” he noted.
This nomination marks Kenzo’s second appearance at the Grammys. In 2023, he was nominated alongside American artist Matt B for their song Gimme Love in the Best Global Music Performance category. That award was eventually won by South African musicians Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode for their hit Bayethe.
