Kapeke has broken his silence on the long-standing narrative surrounding his rise in the music industry, making it clear that while Rickman played a role in his journey, he is not the architect of his success.
Speaking candidly, the fast-rising singer emphasized that his growth has been rooted in his own hard work, talent, and belief in his craft. While he acknowledged that Rickman came into his life at a time when he was still new and relatively unknown, Kapeke was quick to draw the line between support and creation.
“It’s hard to explain to everyone, but I know Rickman understands this. He didn’t make me who I am — he only embraced my art and pushed it further,” he said.
Kapeke’s remarks come amid ongoing conversations among fans who have often credited Rickman for shaping his career. But for the singer, being embraced by an established artist should not be mistaken for ownership of his journey.
He also addressed their collaboration on Swiririri, a track many point to as the turning point in his career. According to Kapeke, the song was his original idea and project from the very beginning. Rickman’s contribution, he explained, helped elevate the track and gave it wider reach, but the foundation had already been laid.
Kapeke positions himself as an artist who values collaboration but remains firmly grounded in his own identity and effort. His message is clear: support can open doors, but the journey and the work behind it remain his own.
