After three successful editions in Kenya and Tanzania, the Old School and Vibe Brunch makes its Ugandan debut this Saturday at Macheda Palm Resort, Buyala.
Originally launched as Cocktails in the Park, the event rebranded to Old School and Vibe Africa after a group of young organizers sought to create a nostalgic experience for audiences often sidelined by modern trends like Amapiano.
“Because the older people were left out due to the Amapiano wave, we decided to start this for that kind of audience,” explained Professor, one of the organizers. “Most of the music our parents played on long journeys was old school. After listening to it repeatedly, we grew to love it, so we decided to revive that feeling with the Old School and Vibe Brunch.”
The lineup will feature both Ugandan and international DJs including DJ Kace, DJ Romario, DJ Moze, DJ Mercey Pro, and DJ Sync, popularly known as the African Mzungu. Together, they will spin timeless hits from the 1990s and early 2000s.
“Music from the 90s and 2000s is timeless. You can play it in the club today and people will still vibe to it as if it was released yesterday,” added DJ Kelly Romario.
Gates open at midday, and for Shs80,000, revelers will not only gain entry but also enjoy complimentary transport to and from the venue. Pick-up points are Kati Kati and Oryx petrol station, with departure set for 10 a.m.
The event promises a blend of nostalgia, good vibes, and a chance to relive the golden era of music.
