Uganda is set to shine on the global music stage as Afro-soul singer Leyna Kagere, popularly known as Leyna K, prepares to represent the country at the prestigious Our Generation Music Contest 2025 in Moscow, Russia. Ahead of the competition, the budding star has released a brand-new single titled “Dreamers,” a track that celebrates resilience and hope.
The young star, who first captured East Africa’s heart in 2019 when she became the first contestant to earn the Golden Buzzer on East Africa’s Got Talent, will represent Uganda as the country’s sole contestant in the prestigious competition.
“Dreamers”, a soulful blend of English and Luganda with an urban-folk touch, celebrates resilience, faith, and hope. Infused with African chants like “Ntanda”, the song carries a universal message for hustlers, youth, and dreamers striving for a better tomorrow.
“This song is for everyone chasing their dreams. Please work hard in order for your dreams to come true,” Leyna said while unveiling the single.
Co-written with her producer, Dreamers not only cements her artistry but also sets the tone for her journey to carry Uganda’s flag to the world stage. Already performing well on streaming platforms, the track is quickly becoming an anthem of inspiration.
Leyna’s path to Moscow is a continuation of her journey of breaking barriers. From her early days of singing competitions to her historic East Africa’s Got Talent moment, she has continued to inspire young people through music and storytelling.
As she heads to Russia, the singer has one request from her motherland and the continent at large: support and votes to propel her through the competition.
“I’m ready to showcase Uganda’s beauty and talent to the world. All I ask is for my people to stand with me,” she urged.
Uganda has talent. East Africa has power. And with Dreamers, Leyna Kagere is proof that African voices can carry global dreams.
