As October winds down, revellers gathered once again for The Big Meeting, Thrones Lounge’s signature end-of-month celebration that brings together good vibes, food, fashion, and whisky-fueled creativity.
Held every last Sunday of the month, The Big Meeting has become a Kampala favourite — a daytime affair where guests mix, mingle, and this time, quite literally mix their own drinks. Guided by expert mixologists, guests crafted cocktails inspired by the smooth, rich flavour of The Singleton single malt.
Of course, there were those who preferred their whisky neat, but The Big Meeting is all about embracing a touch of sweetness and personal flair.
The event continues to challenge Kampala’s nightlife traditions by proving that the city can toast to life in broad daylight. From stylish brunch wear to sleek party looks, guests turned up in high spirits, dancing, laughing, and capturing moments against a sunlit backdrop that melted seamlessly into evening.
Singer Gloria Bugie stole the spotlight at one point, donning all white as she whipped up a zesty citrus Singleton cocktail that had the crowd cheering. Her quick turn behind the counter proved that The Big Meeting is as much about participation as it is about celebration.
Music was another highlight. DJ Kamali had the audience locked in with his Afro house and Afro tech mixes, while Lynda Ddane took a nostalgic route with African and Caribbean classics. When the crowd learned it was also her birthday, the venue erupted in cheers.
As night fell, Vinka took the stage to close the show in style. Performing hits like Thank God, Bailando, and her latest single Lalala, she turned the gathering into a full-on dance party.
Beyond the music and glamour, The Big Meeting offered guests something different — the freedom to personalize their drink experience.
“It’s liberating making your own cocktail. You can personalize it in ways you want,” said one excited guest.
Simon Lapyem, Brand Manager of The Singleton, said the experience was designed to let people explore and express their creativity through flavour.
“This is about giving people the freedom to play, mix, and discover their own perfect cocktail,” he said. “Enjoying a good drink should be as fun and unique as the people having it.”
