Dexta Rapper, the young star who shot to international fame with his global hit Ina Waa, has revealed that he and his father recently experienced personal misunderstandings that temporarily affected their working relationship.
Dexta is widely celebrated as one of the few Ugandan artistes to earn worldwide recognition from a single breakthrough song. Ina Waa became a cultural sensation, landing him performances across East Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Part of the song’s explosive success came from his father, whose iconic waist-wiggling dance became a signature highlight of their performances and a major attraction for fans. Their chemistry on stage contributed to the song’s charm and helped propel the duo into the spotlight.
In recent months, however, fans noticed the two were no longer appearing together, sparking rumours of a falling out. Speaking in a recent interview, Dexta confirmed that there had been a misunderstanding but emphasized that it has since been resolved.
“It was not just about money. There were other issues as well. That is life,” Dexta said.
He went on to dismiss speculation that their brief separation was caused by women.
“Our separation had nothing to do with women. When I came to Kampala, I was advised to stay away from women because they will always like you for something. So women are out of my interests, and I thank God for that,” he explained.
With their differences now settled, fans can expect to see the father-son duo back together as they work to revive the magic that catapulted Ina Waa to global success.
