Singer Jowy Landa has revealed that she is determined to secure a Grammy Award nomination in the near future, a dream she says is well within reach with continued work and artistic growth.
Her comments came after she was asked to reflect on Eddy Kenzo’s Grammy nomination in the Best African Performance category—where he appears alongside continental giants including Tyla, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Omah Lay.
Jowy Landa disclosed that she also entered the race this year, submitting two collaborations for Grammy consideration: “Ex Twafuna Sente” featuring Vyroota and “Sugar Mama” featuring JPC Again.
However, the response she hoped for never came.
“I submitted, by the way,” she said. “Among the songs that I gave in were Ex Twafuna Sente and Sugar Mama, but I think they didn’t meet their standards.”
Despite not making the cut, she remains unfazed — and even more motivated.
“I will try again next year, mark my words,” she vowed, expressing confidence that persistence and improvement will eventually lead her to the Recording Academy’s shortlist.
While the setback stung, Jowy Landa says it has only strengthened her resolve to elevate her craft, refine her sound, and return stronger in the next Grammy cycle.
