King Saha is officially in his own league. The singer has made Lugogo Cricket Oval his home turf after pulling off a second fully-packed concert at the same venue within a single year.
His first showdown was in January. Ten months later, he returned — same venue, same energy, same madness and the fans showed up like he had never left.
Despite murmurs from sections of the public accusing him of being “selfish” for staging two major concerts in such a short span, his loyal fanbase proved unwavering. By the look of the massive turnout, the criticism hardly made a dent.
By Friday afternoon, the preparations at the entrance told their own story. Ordinary and VIP tickets were being sold from a coaster van parked near the main gate, while Airtel teams facilitated online purchases through two tables set up beside the queues. By 4 p.m., long, winding lines had already formed in both sections as eager fans streamed in.
Inside the Oval, vendors worked at full pace to meet the growing demand, while bouncers and police officers teamed up to maintain order — a necessary effort given the swelling numbers.
Before the main act, DJs kept the audience warmed up with a mix of local and international favourites, setting the tone for the evening. Performances officially kicked off shortly after 8 p.m., with acts such as Mickie Wine of the Baniba and Roden Y Kabako preparing the ground for Saha’s appearance.
King Saha stepped on stage at 10 p.m. sharp, opening with a medley of Lucky Dube covers that sent the crowd into a nostalgic frenzy before transitioning into his own catalogue. His first session featured fan favourites like Mpa Love, Pretty Pretty (Remix) with Faffe Bussi, Biri Biri and Hello Hello.
He returned for a second round, performing Mulilwana, Gundeze, Mwana Gwe, Kunya featuring Mudra, Bebantu Baffe with Ziza Bafana and Muwomya. His final session sealed the night with Ebisera, Very Well, Nakyakala, Zakayo and several others that kept the crowd on its feet.
During the interludes between Saha’s sets, supporting acts including Gloria Bugie, Pallaso, Daxx Vibez and Aziz Azion ensured that energy levels did not dip, keeping fans entertained throughout the night.
King Saha’s back-to-back victories at the Oval this year demonstrate not only his consistency but also the strong bond he has forged with his audience. Two shows. One venue. Same year. Both triumphs — a rare milestone that cements his status as one of Uganda’s most resilient live performers.
