Fiona Nagirinya alias Sasha Ferguson, has spoken out firmly to end months of speculation surrounding her marriage to journalist Canary Mugume and the paternity of their two children. In a candid revelation shared through her social media comments and Instagram stories, Sasha said there has never been any doubt that Canary is the biological father of her children.
The rumours, which first gained momentum last year, resurfaced after she posted photos from her son Cairo’s first birthday celebration where Canary did not appear. His delayed birthday message the following day only added fuel to the ongoing online gossip, sparking fresh claims about the state of their marriage and the paternity of their son.
In a strongly worded statement, Sasha said she felt compelled to address the issue once and for all.
“This post is to set one thing straight that has been making rounds since last year about my son Cairo. No DNA was ever made on him or any doubts raised internally,” she wrote. She went on to stress that the narrative being pushed online was malicious and unfounded. “All those are false rumours that were fueled on an innocent soul as a way of damage control about the real matter blinded to most of you because it’s safer to play that card.”
Sasha said the experience of seeing her child dragged into what she described as “a dirty game” has been painful, adding that social media users who quickly believed the rumours contributed to the emotional toll. “May no one ever face the pain of having their child used in playing a dirty game. Both my children have one father,” she emphasized.
While Canary has chosen to remain silent throughout the saga, Sasha has gradually revealed glimpses of their private life, steadily pushing back against assumptions that the couple had separated. Since last year, the two have lived under constant scrutiny from online “in-laws” who have crafted their own narratives, insisting that the pair had gone separate ways.
Sasha and Canary married on 18 September 2021 in a glamorous ceremony at Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga, presided over by Pastor Robert Kayanja. The wedding, estimated at around Shs400 million, was one of the most talked about society events of the year.
Three years later, the couple finds themselves navigating public curiosity and social media pressure, with Sasha now making it clear that although they may be dealing with private challenges, the paternity rumour was never one of them.
