Jamaican dancehall star Spice has cancelled her highly anticipated performance in Uganda, announcing that she will not be attending the December 6, event due to what she describes as a breach of contract by the event promoter.
The Grammy-nominated artiste released a statement expressing disappointment, revealing that she had been excited to reconnect with her Ugandan fans but was forced to withdraw after the promoter failed to meet key contractual obligations.
“I will not be attending this event in Uganda on December 6th,” Spice said. “I was truly excited and looking forward to meeting my brothers and sisters there, but unfortunately the promoter did not fulfill the contractual agreements.”
The show, which had generated buzz among local dancehall fans, was expected to be one of the biggest end-of-year events. News of the cancellation has already stirred reactions online, with fans expressing frustration at losing the chance to see the “Queen of Dancehall” on stage.
Spice did not provide further details on the nature of the breach, but her statement suggests the disagreement was significant enough to halt the entire event.
According to a source that preferred anonymity, part of her team was supposed to arrive in the country last evening but were a no show.
As of now, the promoter has not issued an official response, leaving ticket holders and fans waiting for clarity on refunds and the future of the show.
Spice, known for hits such as So Mi Like It and Go Down Deh, has assured fans she still hopes to perform in Uganda when the right circumstances allow.
