Musician Ava Peace, real name Maureen Peace Namugonza, has stirred a lively debate in the entertainment circles after boldly crowning herself the “Queen of the New Generation.”

The singer set social media buzzing when she posted photos of herself seated on a throne, complete with a crown, and captioned them with the now-popular title.

Just days later, fellow rising star Joan Namugerwa, better known as Jowy Landa, also stepped forward, announcing her first-ever concert while embracing the same title as she seeks to cement her place among Uganda’s fast-rising female acts.

Despite the public buzz suggesting a rivalry, Ava Peace insists there is no bad blood between the two. She says she is instead flattered that younger artists are inspired by her creativity.

“Our relationship is good. I believe everyone is a queen; Jowy is a queen, too,” Ava said. “Uganda has queens in Tooro, Busoga, and Buganda. Even my mother is a queen. Everyone is a queen in her own way.”

Ava adds that she is proud to set trends in the industry, even when others follow her lead.

“God has blessed me that I come up with ideas that people copy. I am happy that the upcoming queens in the industry love what I do and pick from it,” she said.

As both artists embrace the “queen” title, fans continue to debate who truly holds the crown among the new generation of female stars — but Ava Peace seems unbothered, insisting there is room on the throne for all.
