Uganda’s music royalty debate just got more exciting after rising star Jowy Landa publicly declared Sheebah Karungi the overall queen of the industry while comfortably placing herself on the throne as queen of the new generation.

“Everyone is a queen. It’s a big world,” Jowy Landa said in a recent TV interview, choosing not to engage in rivalry. “I called myself the Queen of the New Generation, but Sheebah is the overall queen—the queen of us all.”

She emphasized that her gesture was a recognition of Sheebah’s undeniable influence, talent, and contribution to Uganda’s music landscape.

Jowy’s remarks come just days after singing duo Kataleya & Kandle also knelt at Sheebah’s musical altar, crowning her the true Queen of the industry. The pair praised Sheebah’s longevity, consistency, and unmatched work ethic during a radio interview.

“We’ve been in the industry for just four years, but what we’ve gone through already is a lot and tough,” they admitted. “For her to be here for 10-plus years is huge. It’s good to believe in yourself and call yourself a queen, but we should leave it to the fans. Sheebah is the best female artist in Uganda, yet I’ve never seen her come out and claim that.”

With emerging stars and established acts all tipping their crowns in Sheebah’s direction, the message is clear: the throne may be big enough for many queens but its centerpiece remains Sheebah Karungi.
