Swangz Avenue has renewed its long standing partnership with singer and songwriter Priscilla Zawedde, popularly known as Azawi, sealing a fresh multi-album contract that reinforces her place as one of Uganda’s most dynamic contemporary artistes.
The new deal marks yet another milestone in a relationship that has shaped both Azawi’s career and the sound of modern Ugandan music.
For Azawi, the renewed partnership is not just business but a reaffirmation of artistic evolution.
“Swangz Avenue has been home since the beginning. This new contract is a reminder that we still have so much to create, refine, and share with the world. I’m stepping into a new version of myself musically, creatively, and personally, and I’m grateful to have a team that believes in my vision,” she said, brimming with excitement.
Swangz Avenue Co-Founder and CEO Julius Kyazze echoed the confidence, describing Azawi as a true embodiment of the label’s values.
“Azawi represents everything we stand for. Authenticity, excellence, and innovation. From day one, we knew she had something incredibly special. This new multi-album contract is a commitment to elevating her to even greater global heights. Her next phase will redefine what it means to be a Ugandan artist on the world stage,” Kyazze noted.
Founder Benon Mugumbya added that beyond music, Azawi mirrors the stories and experiences of society, a quality that has earned her both loyalty and resonance among fans.
With the new contract, the team is gearing up for a bold creative expansion, new sounds, wider international reach, and groundbreaking projects designed to elevate not just Azawi, but East African music at large.
Azawi’s journey with Swangz Avenue is paved with landmark successes. Her debut EP Lo Fit (2020) birthed hits like Quinamino, Repeat It, and Crazy Lover, introducing her as a breath of fresh air across East Africa.
She cemented her star power with the critically acclaimed African Music (2021), a chart-dominating album featuring favorites such as My Year, Slow Dancing, Majje, and Party Mood.
Her live performance résumé is equally impressive, including the electrifying African Music Concert at Lugogo in 2022, which showcased her vocal prowess, choreography, and world-class stagecraft.
Beyond her own catalogue, Azawi has maintained a strong presence as a versatile songwriter, crafting hits for some of Uganda’s biggest acts. Her recent singles including Ten Over Ten, Fwa Fwa Fwa, Omwenge, Elevated, and Bamututte continue to underline her consistency and artistry.
