A Pass firmly rejects govt funds, explains why he has not joined Bobi Wine on campaign trail – Sqoop
A Pass has made it clear that he has no interest in receiving government money meant for musicians, insisting that he only wants to earn from his craft and the support of his fans. He spoke with the same calm confidence that has defined much of his music career during an interview with Spark TV.
When asked if he would accept money from the government, he shook his head firmly in disagreement. He said he does not want government money. He wants earnings he has worked for, money that comes from his creativity and from the fans who support him.
Even when pressed about whether he would take one billion shillings if it were offered through fellow artiste and Uganda National Musicians Federation president Eddy Kenzo, he repeated his answer with emphasis: he would refuse. “I don’t want government money. I want money that I have worked for in a different way. I want money from my fans,” he said firmly, leaving no doubt about his stance.
The singer, who has always openly discussed his friendship with NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, also addressed why he has not been seen on the campaign trail. He said his support does not require physical presence at rallies. “Bobi is my friend. I can campaign for him online. Whoever wants to go can go, but I don’t need to move with him for a rally to show support,” he explained.
Before the interview ended, A Pass gave his fans something exciting to look forward to. He revealed that he is preparing for a mega concert in 2027, describing 2026 as a year for planning and building towards something extraordinary. He hinted that he will be choosing a much bigger venue to match his growing fan base. With a playful grin, he teased that even Namboole Stadium could be on the list.
