Music promoter Norbert Twizire, better known as Nobat Events, has been remanded to Luzira Prison until December 18, 2025, following charges of defamation and allegedly making harmful statements about several musicians, including Jose Chameleone and Eddy Kenzo.
Nobat spent four days in custody before appearing in court on Monday. His current legal troubles stem from a complaint filed by singer Jose Chameleone.

But after the court session, Nobat redirected his anger toward Kenzo and the singer’s wife, Minister of State for Energy and Mineral Development Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, accusing them of trying to intimidate him politically.
“Tell Eddy Kenzo that we joined NRM before him. He should stop thinking he is a prince in NRM; he is a peasant like the rest of us. NRM has its princes. Eddy Kenzo and Nyamutoro are cowards,” Nobat told journalists as he was led out of court.
Reporters reminded him that his case was filed by Chameleone, not Kenzo, but Nobat insisted that the charges were part of a wider scheme.
“They are playing games,” he said.
He further argued that some of the claims against him are fabricated. He cited a case linked to the death of a famous dancer, saying: “They claimed I committed an offence about the dancer’s death in 2024, yet it’s been just three months since he passed on.”
Nobat also questioned Chameleone’s influence in the case, suggesting that the singer has no moral ground to push for an arrest when “he has committed very many offences in the past.”
