Joshua Baraka is enjoying a well-deserved moment in the spotlight. From a sold-out concert to dominating Spotify Wrapped charts, the young Ugandan star is steadily proving he’s a force to be reckoned with. And among those who have taken notice is none other than Bien, former member of the celebrated Kenyan band Sauti Sol.
Speaking on the Mic Cheque podcast, Bien couldn’t hide his admiration.
“Joshua Baraka is right now my favorite East African artist and one the world should look out for,” he said. He went on to praise Baraka’s effortless confidence, noting that he “moves like a don,” always placing himself in the right environment to shine and shine he does.

Bien shared how Baraka’s talent had a powerful impact during his Alusa Why Are You Topless? tour earlier this year, which spanned France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the UK, Denmark, and Sweden. Baraka served as the opening act, and according to Bien, many concertgoers didn’t know who he was at first but by the end of his performance, they were full-blown fans.
Their musical chemistry isn’t new. Before the tour, Joshua Baraka featured Bien on the star-studded remix of his hit song Nana, which also included Nigerian artist Joeboy and Ghana’s King Promise. The remix further cemented Baraka’s growing influence across the continent.
