A day after hosting his annual Worship Night, gospel singer and pastor Wilson Bugembe found himself dealing with unexpected post-event drama after thieves vandalised his car in Bulenga along Mityana Road.
While preaching at Worship House Church in Nansana, Bugembe narrated the bizarre incident, equal parts amused and frustrated by the boldness of the culprits.
“For starters, let me talk to the thieves who stole all the lights off my car on the morning of Worship Night,” he said. “There’s a new generation of thieves riding boda bodas, pretending to be in deep conversation beside cars when they’re actually stealing.”
He confirmed that it was indeed his car that was targeted and reminded the culprits that nothing escapes God’s sight.
In classic Bugembe style, he chose prayer over anger. Rather than curse the thieves, he prayed for their transformation, saying he hoped they would not end the year as criminals but as changed people.
“The Bible says whoever has been stealing should stop and work with their own hands so they can help those in need,” he added.
Bugembe also revealed that vandals tore down his billboard after Worship Night yet curiously left President Museveni’s billboard, which stood right beside it, untouched.
He took the moment to call out those who steal inside churches as well, warning that God cannot be mocked.
“One day, He will show you that He is almighty,” he said.
