In today’s Uganda, the lines between politics and music are increasingly getting blurry. Artists are no longer just entertainers; many have become vocal participants in national conversations, whether by choice or circumstance.
As the country moves through another charged political season, musicians find themselves drawn into rallies, debates, and public declarations of allegiance.
Even artists who once kept a safe distance from politics are now sharing stages with politicians, making bold statements, or lending their voices to campaign songs. For Feffe Bussi, staying on the sidelines is no longer an option.
The Nzalina hitmaker recently opened up about his growing interest in politics, describing it not as a trend, but as a personal calling. His political awakening became evident with the release of Uganda Empya, a song that directly addresses the country’s social and political climate.
“Where politics has reached in our country, I think everyone is involved. You can’t distance yourself from it,” Feffe said during an interview. “I have a passion for being an active politician and helping to change my country. This is our generation’s time to take responsibility.”
Known for proudly calling himself the “smallest rapper,” Feffe Bussi believes that influence is not measured by size or status, but by impact. Beyond music, he revealed ambitions that stretch into the legal and political arenas. He hopes to return to school to study law, with the goal of standing up for those who cannot defend themselves.
