For days, music stages and recording studios took a back seat as Uganda’s entertainment industry rallied around rapper Fik Fameica following the death of his mother, Jackline Nassimbwa.
In a moment that reminded many that fame offers no protection from loss, artists, DJs, presenters, and creatives chose compassion over competition, standing with one of their own in grief.
Nassimbwa passed away at Kibuli Muslim Hospital in Kampala after a prolonged battle with kidney-related health complications. As news of her death spread, condolences quickly turned into action, with fellow artists physically showing up to support the rapper during his darkest hour.
Throughout the funeral arrangements, Fik Fameica was rarely alone. Leading figures including Eddy Kenzo, Bobi Wine, Rema Namakula, Spice Diana, Lydia Jazmine, Feffe Bussi, Gravity Omutujju, Geosteady, B2C, and Pastor Wilson Bugembe, among many others, offered both emotional and financial support — a rare show of unity in an industry often portrayed as divided.
Away from the microphones and flashing cameras, the rapper was simply a grieving son, comforted by colleagues who momentarily became family.
Jackline Nassimbwa was laid to rest at her ancestral burial grounds in Luwero, Kasana, on Monday, in a ceremony marked by tears, prayers, and quiet reflection. The emotional farewell was witnessed by loved ones and members of the creative community who stood shoulder to shoulder with Fik during the painful moment.
Following the burial, the rapper expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who stood by him, thanking the industry and fans alike for the overwhelming love and support extended to him during this difficult chapter.
