Uganda’s media landscape entered a new era today with the official launch of the Entertainment and Media Hosts Association (EMHA) at Kyambogo, marking a historic milestone for mainstream radio and television presenters across the country.
The well attended event drew presenters from different radio and television stations, a clear show of solidarity and shared purpose within the industry.
EMHA was born out of a long-standing gap in Uganda’s creative sector. While musicians, comedians, and drama actors have for years benefited from organized associations that advocate for their welfare, mainstream radio and TV presenters had remained largely unrepresented.
This realization sparked the formation of EMHA to provide structure, a collective voice, and formal recognition for media hosts.
The Association seeks to professionalize the industry by organizing presenters under one umbrella, advocating for their rights and interests, and opening doors to government support and funding opportunities that are often accessible only to formally organized creative groups.
Beyond representation, EMHA also recognizes the crucial role presenters play in national development, shaping public discourse, entertaining audiences, promoting culture, and disseminating information that informs and empowers communities.
Addressing attendees at the launch, EMHA Chairman Miles Rwamiti emphasized that the Association is founded on the values of professionalism, inclusivity, and voluntary participation.
He noted that EMHA is open to all radio and television presenters who believe in collective growth, mutual support, and the long-term empowerment of the media industry.
The successful launch at Kyambogo signals the beginning of a promising new chapter for Uganda’s mainstream media presenters.
With EMHA now in place, the industry takes a decisive step toward unity, collaboration, and sustainable development, ensuring that the voices behind the microphones and screens are finally heard, represented, and empowered.
