Outspoken TikToker and content creator Aisha Nansubuga, popularly known as Luwilight, has reportedly been arrested and detained over alleged cyber harassment.
Luwilight, who has built a large following on TikTok for her commentary on Uganda’s entertainment industry and national issues, was arrested earlier this week and spent the night at Kira Police Station, according to information revealed on the Kasuku Live show.
Sources familiar with the matter allege that the arrest is linked to complaints of cyber harassment stemming from Luwilight’s online attacks on several individuals. In particular, she is accused of making defamatory remarks targeting Zuena Kirema, the wife of musician Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool.
According to reports, Luwilight allegedly criticised Zuena’s cake business, claiming the products were of poor quality and not fit for human consumption, remarks said to have damaged Zuena’s public reputation.
While photos circulating on social media appeared to show Luwilight in handcuffs, the Uganda Police Force has dismissed the images as fake.
“The individuals depicted in those images are not officers of the Uganda Police Force but AI-generated images,” police clarified.
During the Kasuku Live show, Kasuku revealed that he had spoken to a close friend of Luwilight, who confirmed that the TikToker was detained at Kira Police Station following her arrest.
Further reports indicate that the complaint was lodged by Bebe Cool, who accuses Luwilight of persistently attacking his wife using a fake social media account. A source claims the alleged harassment involved insults posted on Facebook and TikTok through an account authorities believe is linked to her.
However, Luwilight has denied all the allegations. She maintains that the account in question does not belong to her and has reportedly refused to issue an apology, insisting she has been wrongly accused.
Authorities have not yet issued an official statement detailing the specific charges or circumstances surrounding her arrest. It is reported that Luwilight could be arraigned before court today, although the exact time had not been communicated by press time.
As of now, police investigations are ongoing, and the matter remains under inquiry.
