National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Zambali Bulasio Mukasa has been declared the winner of the Nansana Municipality Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 general elections.
Mukasa, a seasoned journalist and media personality, secured victory after a closely contested race, marking a major political milestone in his transition from journalism to elective leadership.
Before joining active politics, Zambali built a strong public profile as a journalist, known for his work in broadcast media where he covered politics, governance, and social issues. His media background played a key role in shaping his campaign message, which focused on accountability, service delivery, and amplifying the voices of ordinary citizens.
Following his declaration, Mukasa thanked voters in Nansana Municipality for entrusting him with the mandate, describing the win as a victory for the people and for democratic participation.
“This is not a personal victory but one for the people of Nansana who believe in change, transparency, and servant leadership,” he said.
Mukasa contested on the National Unity Platform ticket, riding on the party’s strong support base in Wakiso District and its appeal among urban voters, especially the youth.
His election adds to the growing number of journalists who have successfully transitioned into elective politics, reflecting an increasing trend of media professionals seeking to influence governance from within the political system.
Zambali Bulasio Mukasa is expected to represent Nansana Municipality in the 11th Parliament, where he has pledged to prioritise legislation that improves service delivery, promotes accountability, and addresses the needs of his constituents.
