Gospel singer Baby Gloria’s mother, Betty Nakibuka Ssenyonjo, has spoken out, urging the public to stop dragging her family into what she described as baseless rumours surrounding her daughter’s marriage.
Her comments come amid widespread speculation on social media suggesting that Baby Gloria’s marriage to Jonas Mbaleka is on the brink, just months after their wedding. The rumours further allege that Jonas is involved in a secret relationship with Baby Gloria’s younger sister, Jolly Mirembe Ssenyonjo.
Addressing the claims, Nakibuka revealed that she had spoken directly to her daughter about the online chatter and advised her not to be shaken by it.
“She told me that people wake up and make up stories about her,” Nakibuka said. “I told her not to worry, because the Bible says there is nothing done in darkness that will not eventually come to light. People may talk badly now, but in the end, the truth always comes out.”
She appealed to the public to stop targeting her daughters, especially Jolly, whom she described as young and undeserving of the pressure that comes with public speculation.
“Please leave my daughter alone and let her grow fat,” she said emotionally. “She is already small. Where will she leave her businesses when she leaves the country?”
Nakibuka also defended her decision to encourage Jolly to remain in Uganda rather than follow her peers abroad.
“All her mates have gone abroad, but I asked her to stay so she can be here with me. So please, leave her alone,” she added.
Her remarks echo earlier statements from Baby Gloria, who has repeatedly dismissed the rumours, insisting there is no rift between her and her sister and that her marriage remains stable.
