The Ugandan comedy scene could be heading for its most explosive showdown yet, as two powerhouse duos Madrat and Chico and Maulana and Reign begin flexing their creative muscles.

For years, Maulana and Reign have sat comfortably at the top of the comedy chain, blending skits, music, and razor-sharp satire to build a loyal following.

Even their recent foray into politics, highlighted by Reign’s unsuccessful bid for the Lubaga South MP seat has done little to dull their confidence or slow their momentum.

Speaking in an interview with Sanyuka TV, Reign brushed off claims that politics has weakened their comedy dominance. If anything, he sounded more fired up than ever.

According to Reign, comparisons with other comedians, especially Madrat and Chiko are not just misplaced, but disrespectful.

“We have never left the big scene,” Reign insisted. “No duo is better than us in the comedy industry. Never compare Madrat and Chiko to Maulana and Reign. We are very different. The way we deliver our content is very different.”

Furthermore, Reign boldly challenged promoters and fans alike to put their claims to the test by organizing a full-blown comedy battle. In his view, it would take more than just Madrat and Chiko to rival their presence.

“We are very mighty, way above them,” he said. “If you want proof, organize a show. And to make it fair, you’ll have to add Madrat and Chiko, Tumbeetu, Alex Muhangi, and MC Mariachi together to equal Maulana and Reign.”
