Fresh details have emerged surrounding the death of popular TikToker and online businesswoman Diana Namulinde alias Diana Skyz, whose body was discovered inside her apartment in Kyanja, Kampala City, as police intensify investigations into what is now being treated as a case of murder, aggravated robbery and rape.
Detectives close to the investigation have revealed that the breakthrough in the case began on Monday morning at around 9am, when a security guard attached to Gibeon Security System was intercepted and arrested along the Northern Bypass at Kisasi as he attempted to flee with two large suitcases and a laptop bag. The guard reportedly raised suspicion after being questioned by his supervisor and failing to give satisfactory answers.
The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Kensington Police Post, where he was charged with possession of suspected stolen property. During interrogation, detectives say the guard confessed to having stolen the items from an apartment located near his place of deployment.
According to one of the detectives, the recovered items included several mobile phones, among them a silver iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Samsung handset, shades, a wristwatch, female handbags and other personal belongings. The items were packed in white and coffee brown suitcases, along with two black backpacks.
Further investigations established that the stolen property belonged to Diana Namulinde, a 24 year old resident of Nicholas Apartments in Kwaata Zone, Kyanja. Namulinde was an online trader dealing in jewellery, shoes, bags and perfumes, and was also a well known TikTok content creator who went by the names Skys and Rich Wife.
On Tuesday at about 3:40pm, a man identified as Bernard Lukwago, 32, a resident of Bahai, Kisasi, reported to Kensington Police Post that his girlfriend, Namulinde, had stopped answering his phone calls and was not responding to text or WhatsApp messages. Lukwago told police he feared that something could have gone wrong.
He later went to Kyanja to check on her at her rented apartment, where he noticed unusual locking and signs of possible burglary. As he stood at the scene, the caretaker reportedly warned him not to tamper with the house and instead advised him to return to the police. The caretaker informed him that a suspect had already been arrested with property believed to belong to Namulinde.
Lukwago returned to Kensington Police Post to seek clarity, after which police officers accompanied him back to the apartment. At the scene, officers found a padlock with keys placed nearby. Using a stick, they pulled the keys closer, opened the door and proceeded to the bedroom, where Namulinde was found lying upside down on the floor, with blood and saliva oozing from her mouth and nose.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the developments, saying a team of homicide detectives and scene of crime officers visited the apartment, documented the scene, recovered several exhibits and recorded statements from witnesses.
“A report of murder, aggravated robbery and rape vide Kensington SD 07/04/02/26 was made and the matter is being investigated at Kira Road Police Station vide CRB 103/26,” Owoyesigyire said.
He added that three male suspects aged between 22 and 25 years are currently in custody in connection with Namulinde’s death. Sources familiar with the case said the deceased had lived in the Kyanja apartment for about five months.
Police investigations are ongoing as detectives work to establish the exact circumstances under which Namulinde was killed and the roles played by each of the suspects.
